We first met Richard and Dan (lead builder on our project) when they were builder and apprentice for the company that we contracted to build a new home some 18 years ago. When we began the process of building our home in Leeward Drive, we had no hesitation in contacting Richard and Hannah at HAMR Homes and were extremely pleased when we learned that Dan was to be on our build. Over the years we had watched the quality homes that HAMR had built with interesting design ideas and quality finishing.
The design process was a joint effort between Richard and Hannah and ourselves and the willingness to incorporate our wishes and ideas together with invaluable recommendations from their side made the exercise an exciting time.
Our build coincided with the COVID induced building supply shortages and spiraling costs, however at an early stage Richard was able to forward order and in some cases take delivery of product weeks in advance so that the job flowed and also we were protected from price increases. The final cost therefore was acceptably close to the original estimate. Our request to be “in for Christmas” (it’s a Whitianga thing!) was a challenge and we were impressed with the effort made by Richard, Dan and his team together with sub-trades to achieve this.
Communication with Richard and Hannah was regular and the willingness to meet on site at short notice if we had questions was excellent.
The finishing standard of our home has received many positive comments and this is due to Richard’s very high standards and the work of Dan, in particular and his team.
In conclusion the initial design process, the project management, the communication, the construction and finishing and handover evening were to an extremely high standard and we would not hesitate to use HAMR Homes in the future.

Friends recommended HAMR Homes as one of the best local builders for my architecturally (Diana Blake) designed home, intended to satisfy my requirements for the rest of my life. It was good advice as Richard and Hannah were great to work with, and very helpful with ideas and suggestions for fixtures, fittings, colour schemes, materials etc.

This was especially important during Covid lockdowns, as they managed the whole project, while I was stuck in Auckland. Their communication and online customer portal were invaluable. There were no significant delays with Covid, as Richard planned sourcing well ahead of time, and managed to keep costs in line with his original projections.

Richard and Hannah’s building team and contractors have built my house to very high standards, and have submitted it to the Master Builders House of the Year competition. Everyone, including those with trades and building experience, have been very impressed and complimentary regarding the quality of the build and finishing.

I have no hesitation in recommending HAMR homes to anyone wanting to use an outstanding building team. 

We purchased a fantastic corner section on the Whitianga waterways and had Architect Brendon Gordon design our dream retirement home. All we now needed was a building Company who had the craftsmanship to achieve the quality we desired.

When first meeting Richard and Hannah Warwick they proudly showed us through other clients finished homes. The quality and attention to detail gave us full confidence for HAMR Homes to construct our forever home.

Richard managed the whole build process as we were living in Cambridge. Monthly we would meet on site with the team of builders and other trades. They all had a wonderful rapport with both us and our Architect.

HAMR homes entered our home into The Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2021. A fun evening was spent in the company of Richard and Hannah. A highlight of the night was our home receiving a Gold Award and making the top 100 homes built in 2021.

We decided to build a new home in 2019 and met up with Richard and Hannah, owners of HAMR homes.
Right from the outset we found them to be professional, experienced, friendly and honest. They had great ideas and were fantastic in assisting with design, and managing the process right from start to completion.
We were impressed with their online portal which included progress reports, photos, and costs. Everything was transparent and we knew exactly where we stood.
They were open to ideas and nothing was ever a problem to them.
They used the best materials and appliances and their building team were fantastic.
Richard and Hannah are passionate about their business and are committed in producing a top product.
Everything came in on budget, there were no surprises and we are enjoying a beautiful home.
Our journey with them has been nothing short of fantastic.
They deservedly won two awards, being the Registered Master Builders House of the year 2021 Gold award, and Category Winner award (Auckland, Northland Coromandel Region), for the category $600,000 - $750,000.
Both awards were for excellence in workmanship, creativity and innovation.
Would we build with them again? Certainly.

We started the journey of our dream retirement home with local recommendations and the record of previous Master Builder Awards for HAMR Homes projects.

From our first meeting with Richard and Hannah Warwick, we were confident we had made the right choice.

HAMR Homes systems of Estimation, contract management, timeline scheduling, accounting and communication, which were all excellent, gave us the confidence to travel New Zealand whilst our house was under construction.

Richards attention to construction detail, quality and finish was evident throughout the build process. Richards team of genuine tradesman and sub trades all took pride and ownership in the construction and finish of our build.

 We had HAMR Home Building Contractors build a new retirement home for us, in 2017. This house won several awards from Master Builders in the Auckland region, in 2019. That award confirmed our view that the quality of the work completed by Rich and all his team and sub-contractors was excellent.
During the build we continued to live in Hamilton so the electronic service he used to keep us informed was critical. We visited the site from time to time. We must say, upon reflection and having seen other homes built in Whitianga since we got here, that HAMR Homes stayed on the job until it was completed. This was important to us as we wanted to get into our new home as soon as possible.
In addition, the follow-up service, looking after any questions or issues we had has been very impressive. Rich has answered us and helped us very promptly all the way.
We have often remarked to each other that we would have them build again for us if that were required. Hence we have no hesitation in commending them to any prospective purchaser.

 We were so lucky to work with HAMR Home on our first home! HAMR Home were brilliant to work with; we had such a smooth process from start to finish. We already had established a working history with Richard and Hannah, and HAMR Homes; they had built some of our designs through our architecture business. Even a show home for HAMR Homes, which was beautiful and a true representation of the quality building that we went on to receive. So it was a natural choice to use them for our own home.

From the beginning of the contract they were very professional and thorough. We made a couple of amendments during the construction, typical, but still, a bit of a curve ball…! However, Richard received the news with a positive manner. Never making us feel like it was a hassle at all. Quite the opposite, he was so accommodating and ready to move forward with those amendments. The completed project was properly completed, with Code of Compliance achieved prior to handover. We were so impressed with our new home, which we have now lived in for two years. The house has seen a few seasons now, including a few storms, it’s so sturdy and strong. It still looks as beautiful as the day we moved in, even better with time as our gardens are now complimenting the house. Our house was entered into Master Builders House of The Year 2018, this was such a fabulous experience for us and even better when it won a gold for it’s category!! Definitely an endorsement of the amazing workmanship that we received from HAMR Home for our house.

The HAMR Home team is a great group of builders. They are switched on; absolutely committed to each project and using their skills and craftsmanship to set their finished homes in a league of their own. Hannah and Richard are good, honest people. They are both great at communicating, and we felt so confidant that all would go well from the beginning, and it certainly did. We now call Richard and Hannah our friends, which is a huge accolade considering some horror stories you hear of client/builder relationships! Our friendship is a testimony to their characters and how well the process went for us. We recommend HAMR Home to anyone wanting a seamless construction process and a beautiful, well constructed building at completion. 

In May 2015 we sought quotations from construction firms in Whitianga, to build an Architecturally designed single level home of circa 310m2, canal side in the Whitianga waterways.
Richard and Hannah Warwick presented the most detailed / descriptive and cost effective proposals to construct the home, on a "full contract" basis, struck up a business relationship with Dan O'Connor our Architect at an early stage and both interpreted and enhanced the designs in a creative and helpful manner.
We have a home that we are fully satisfied with and Richard and Hannah and their very competent sub trades in drainage / plumbing, interior fittings, electrical, concreting, have all done a job that they can rightfully be proud of.
The home came in at around their budgeted price to us and at all times Richard was attentive to our requirements and changes and was professional in every respect.

Managing a building project from the other side of the world (Luxembourg) was made very easy by HAMR. Having acquired the section on Aquila Drive from a good friend we were always intending on building the house to serve the joint purpose of rental investment and long-term personal use (when we eventually bring the family back to gods own). Once Richard understood this joint objectives he was very helpful in designing an appropriate plan. The design was elegant yet practical and it has, with the passage of time, proved to be a winner with offering 5 bedrooms, 2 living areas ( to make best use of the views and sun's trajectory) to the tourist/beach holiday demand that is undersupplied in Whitianga. The demand for the house (via Bachcare) has well exceeded expectation.
HAMR managed the entire process from design, planning application, the build and all decorating, furnishings and fitting out ready to rent. The budget was sensible and was achieved (also within projected time frames).
It was very helpful to have Hannah take care of all the furnishing, fittings and outside areas. The end result was a house ready to be rented out to the tourist and beach holiday people in November 2017. Hannah and Richard have continued to provide help and support when needed since then with managing the few maintenance items (always get a few items with a house this big and being rented), gardens and house washing.
We only get positive feedback on the quality of the house and its layout from those who enjoy staying there. It was 18months before I got to see the finished result and was very impressed with the place ..... I am contemplating another similar project in the coming years and will definitely use HAMR.

Our initial plan was to purchase rather than build as we, are aware of so many “hair raising” stories some have experienced when building. Plan A was shelved and we went for Plan B and decided to build and selected Richard Warwick/HAMR Homes.
Richards passion and commitment for building was very evident throughout. He is extremely particular in every detail, is well organised, innovative, courteous and is a very good, communicator and is thoroughly trustworthy. Nothing was ever a problem.
